To quote a line from a dear friend…
“I know what you’re thinking” and my last name is pronounced with a short I sound. This is why I go by a shortened version of my first name.
I grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago and as a little girl, I knew in addition to great parents, I had the most spectacular grandmother on the face of the earth, she was my rock star. She had this big medical book that was really old and had lots of cool pictures of plants and diagrams of their parts in it. If she had it out I got to look through it. I remember spending time with her and she would send me out into the back yard to pick things, help her dry the plants she already had, or stir them in pots of boiling water on the stove. When they were ready she would have my grandfather drink the liquids for whatever ailment he had at the time or we would put them in bottles for later. I also remember thinking how wonderful that there were “pills” in the garden.

Thus started my love for natural medicine. As time passed I never lost my love of natural medicine and so I embarked on the long journey to become a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine. I earned a Bachelors of Science in Biological Medicine from National University of Health Sciences and then went on to receive a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from National University of Health Sciences as well.
When you’re a kid things seem so simple, there always seems to be only one answer for each problem. I quickly learned that wasn’t the case. I learned problem solving is an art, especially in Natural Medicine after many years of studying. I guess you could say I quickly became lured into problem solving, which is an area I just love! I once read in a Norman Vincent Peale book a quote which read “Don’t bring me your successes they weaken me; bring me your problems they strengthen me”. That’s my favorite place to be in health care. I love to do the research and figure out the remedies to people's health problems. I enjoy helping with all kinds of digestive, hormonal, weight, attention deficit, and autoimmune issues, or just trying to optimize your health; I love it all.
One of the most important things about me is that I will always be honest with you. I promised myself I would be honest with each patient, no matter what, and so that’s where I stand, an honest puzzle solver.

What Makes Us Different
|
What makes us different is our care for and time spent with each and every patient. When you make an appointment to come to our office you will be given either a full hour appointment for an initial visit or a half hour appointment for a returning visit. That time is yours and yours alone.
We want to get your whole health story straight from you. You will find that you will be asked to elaborate on many topics you have not been asked about before or to explain seemingly only loosely associated situations. This elaboration is part of getting smaller pieces of the puzzle that may change how your personal plan is written for you, because you are unique. We will utilize any or all of the following: homeopathy, manual therapy, nutritional therapy, hydrotherapy, supplements and or herbs as part of the unique plan for you.
At OBWC we are fully committed to our 50% of your health. Guess who gets to do the rest? You! We guide you towards your optimal health. The key word is: guide. We cannot be with you 24/7 to monitor you for following instructions. That’s your part of the 50%.
Remember good health doesn’t happen overnight, it takes time. We want you to know that you matter, and that questions are welcome, as we intend on being there for you for a long time.

Required Initial Intake A visit to a Naturopathic doctor is definitely worth the time and effort you put into it. You are encouraged to be an active participant in your health.
You may be surprised at how much emphasis is given to the initial intake. At your initial intake you will be asked to bring any supplements you are taking to assess their dosing and quality, specifically in regards to your personal needs. You will also be asked to bring a list of prescription medications you are taking so that we can be certain there are no interactions between the prescriptions and any supplements or any foods you may use. This initial intake will last about one hour and will provide an opportunity for the Doctor as Teacher to be one of your first experiences, as you become educated about your health.
For your first visit you will also be asked to bring any other pertinent information you have so your personal plan can be further tailored to you. Payment Payment is due in full at the time of visit. Cash, Checks, Visa, Master Card, and Discover are accepted forms of payment. Cancellation Policy
Olive Branch Wellness requires a 24 hour advance notice in order for any appointment to be cancelled without incurring a cancellation fee. Cancellations must have been received during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 10am - 7pm.
Any appointment cancelled at other times or not with 24 hour's notice will be charged $100.00. Insurance
Most insurance coverage is limited to those states that offer licensure to Naturopathic doctors. Currently Illinois does not license Naturopaths, and insurance reimbursement for services rendered by a Naturopathic doctor are unlikely. However, hopefully as the demand for complementary and alternative medicine increases, more insurers are providing coverage. It would be in your interest to call your insurance provider and inquire about Naturopathic medical coverage for possible reimbursement. OBWC does not bill insurance providers.
FAQ’s
How long is my first visit? Your first visit will be approximately one hour. Sit back and be comfortable. The goal is to get as complete a picture as possible of your overall level of wellness. Most people say the time flew by so make sure you have any questions written down. Do Naturopathic doctors work with other health care professionals? Yes! Naturopathic doctors work with other conventional and alternative health care professionals such as medical doctors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists and other professionals when the need arises. Every health care professional has value and it is in your best interest that we are all working as partners for your best interest. How is naturopathic medicine different from conventional medical care? Well, in several ways. First of all, Naturopathic doctors work with patients to build a strong foundation of health by coaching, encouraging, and personally designing programs. Secondly, Naturopathic doctors provide more than relief from symptoms. Naturopathic doctors are committed to getting to the cause of the problem which should greatly reduce dependence on pills, giving you a longer lasting, deeper level of healing. Naturopathic doctors believe that your body, when given the right tools, has the innate ability to heal itself. They use low-force, non toxic interventions to encourage your body to heal itself. Healing might mean incorporating one or more of the following: diet and lifestyle changes; vitamin and nutrient supplementation; botanical, or herbal, medicine; homeopathy; hydrotherapy; and physical therapy to encourage your body to heal and restore itself to optimum balance.
