This Month's Vita-Mini:  Vitamin H

Vitamin H is more commonly known today as Biotin, or vitamin B7. Biotin helps our bodies metabolize carbohydrates, fats and amino acids. It is also one of the vitamins essential to embryonic growth, so it’s an important nutrient during pregnancy.

Vitamin H, or Biotin, like all B vitamins, is water soluble. That means your body can’t store it, and it must be replenished through your diet on a regular basis. The good news is that it’s found in many types of food, including egg yolks, sardines, nuts, legumes (beans, blackeye peas), whole grains, cauliflower, bananas, and mushrooms. Although Biotin deficiencies are rare, raw egg whites contain a protein that interferes with the body's absorption of biotin. You can also be deficient in Biotin if you have Crohn’s disease or other conditions that interfere with the absorption of nutrient, have taken anti-biotics for a long time, or if you take anti-seizure medication.

A good quality vitamin supplement or B-Complex will give you all the Vitamin H or Biotin boost you need!

Here's Why Infrared Sauna is
So Good For You!

One of the first goals I had in my new Center was to install an infrared sauna. We offer infrared sauna to any of our patients, and you can add it to any appointment, massage, or book a special session just for a sauna by itself.

This isn’t your mother’s sauna! Infrared sauna is a completely new healing technology with loads of health benefits. Instead of using heating elements or steam or rocks to heat the natural wood sauna, it uses infrared light.

Sweating is healthy! It helps your body eliminate toxins like heavy metals and environmental chemicals. Your body also burns more calories in the heat of a sauna, and your heart rate increases as well. Estimates say that your body may burn up to 600 calories in a 30-minute sauna. The heat of a sauna is also deeply relaxing, releasing muscular tension and reducing cortisol, the stress hormone, in your body. It increases circulation and can reduce aches and pains.

Infrared saunas are also great for your skin! The sweating purifies your skin, releasing toxins and opening pores and leaving you with a soft, vibrant and healthy glow.

Olive Branch Wellness Center now offers infrared sauna sessions as part of its massage therapy value packages. Our gold client package includes 8 infrared saunas, 8 massage therapy sessions, along with a 15-minute consultation with me. You’ll save over $150 versus purchasing these services separately. Our preferred client package includes 10 infrared saunas and 10 massages that you can share with your spouse! Plus, you’ll get two consultations, plus a copy of my book, reports and new debut items.

Spring is coming and it’s a great time to start to detoxify your body through a healthful diet, exercise, massage and infrared sauna!
